Resource development – value added theatre!
Do you have a background in drama? Have you ever used theatre to raise awareness of an issue? Do you think you could use drama to make a real difference?
In absence of television and the internet in many of the areas that we work in, our AIDS Action Clubs use Theatre for Development as an effective tool to sensitise communities to many of the issues surrounding HIV/AIDS. Everyday situations that the audience may find themselves in are enacted in order to illustrate the choices that community members have when it comes to protecting themselves against the disease. Theatre is an extremely effective way of communicating life saving knowledge and our clubs are always keen to learn new drama skills. We’re looking for creative drama practitioners to develop workshops on drama games and exercises, role-plays, improvisation techniques and even specialist drama approaches that could be used to train and capacity build our groups. Whether you’re an actor, drama teacher or even a specialist in Applied Theatre - this role will enable you to make a dramatic difference to our work on the ground in Zambia from the luxury of your armchair!
