Schools of Good Hope – UK

Resource development - teaching and learning on a shoestring!

Are you from a generation before interactive whiteboards? Ever had to work in an environment where resources are limited? Ever thought up a great lesson that won’t cost the earth to deliver?

Teachers in our community schools work in conditions where there are little or no resources and where even paper is limited. We’re looking for creative and dynamic teachers who would be willing to research, collate or develop ideas for classroom activities that are suitable for use in our Zambian community schools which have limited resources. By getting involved in this opportunity you’ll be contributing directly to our Schools of Good Hope programme and the work that we are doing in Zambia. Suggestions for games, activities and lesson plans that do not require many resources are ideal. Help us to capacity build our classrooms from the comfort of your home!

Improving our school environments

Our community schools lack many resources from the simplest writing materials and exercise books, to blackboards, desks and chairs. We know that a positive and comfortable learning environment makes for better learners and we are keen to improve the facilities in all the Zambian schools that we support. We are always on the look out for people and companies who might be able to assist us in fundraising so that we can buy these much needed items for our schools.

Shipping out donations

Through our Schools of Good Hope programme we have linked several UK schools with community schools in Zambia. As part of the programme, the UK link schools have been generously donating a range of items that need to be sent to Zambia – from books and educational resources, to shoes for the school pupils! As a small charity we can’t afford shipping that costs the earth and so we are always keen to make contacts with people and organisations that can provide charity discounts for shipping so that we can send these items out to Zambia at the lowest possible cost.
