Research

Part of PEPAIDS’ vision is to gather evidence of the effectiveness of PEPAIDS’ and SAPEP’s work. Through research and data collection we want to evaluate the usefulness of what we do, ultimately ensuring that our outreach actually meets needs in the community. Through conducting research and sharing information with other organisations doing similar work in Africa, we aim to contribute to the wider pool of knowledge surrounding the alleviation of poverty and HIV/AIDS, and ultimately help funds and resources to be used as well as they can.

Research areas of particular interest to us include home care for patients with HIV and their families; the role of traditional healers in the management of HIV/AIDS; the impact of income-generating activities in rural areas; HIV prevention methods; culture and HIV; palliative care.
