Kulyaaba placements are available to anyone and we offer two places per month between March and September, inclusive. Placements are generally one month in duration and give volunteers the opportunity to experience a monthly cycle of SAPEP’s outreach. At the time of writing, the total placement will cost in the region of £1000-£1500, depending on flight costs.

We aim to make Kulyaaba placements as mutually beneficial as possible. The idea is that they are a cross-cultural experience whereby volunteers and Zambians learn about each other’s lifestyles.

Potential candidates are interviewed to assess their suitability for a placement and what they can bring to the programme in Zambia. We have two rounds of recruitment per year, each round including application, interview and a briefing day. Candidates are asked to pay a £60 administration fee, undertake £300 of fundraising for PEPAIDS before they go and to complete an evaluation upon their return. Application deadlines are November for round one and March for round two. Briefing days are December and April respectively.
