Student Fundraising

One of the first fundraising initiatives that our chair, Helen, put into action when she founded PEPAIDS was called ‘PEPSOC’ – a University-based students’ union society with the purpose of raising funds for PEPAIDS and raising awareness of the situation in sub-Saharan Africa among the student population.

University of Nottingham's PEPSOCPEPSOC first started at the University of Nottingham in 2002 and since then, a PEPSOC has formed at Durham University too. In 2007, PEPSOC Nottingham became ZambiAIDS (take a look at their website).

ZambiAIDS and PEPSOC Durham are autonomous and student-run and can achieve their aims in any way they choose too. In the past, the student committees have run events as diverse as club nights, balls, HIV/AIDS lectures and candle-lit vigils.

Both committees continue to support our work and we are very grateful to them for that.

If you are currently at University and would like to form a student society in support of PEPAIDS, please contact us and Jennie Cottle, our student liaison officer, will be happy to help you through the process.
