Placement

Kulyaaba volunteers at Mazabuka Community Radio station

The Placement
Placements involve shadowing one of our Project Officers. Volunteers are transported around expansive rural areas on the back of a motorbike to observe implementation, facilitation and monitoring of SAPEP HIV and AIDS prevention and mitigation activities. Volunteers will visit AIDS Action Club activities such as outreach events, income generation projects, rural health clinic activities and radio broadcasts. Volunteers will be encouraged to participate and build relationships with Anti-AIDS clubs and their communities.

Optional Extra Attachments
In addition to the SAPEP placement, Monze Mission Hospital kindly accommodates volunteers who want experience of the acute healthcare available for HIV/AIDS patients. Placements are particularly popular with students, both for formal elective studies and for voluntary placements during holidays.

What can you offer SAPEP
If you have a specific area of expertise that is relevant to HIV and AIDS prevention and/or mitigation, SAPEP staff would appreciate it if you could deliver a tutorial to the Peer Educators on your chosen topic. Also, we ask that you provide a report of your experiences to SAPEP.
